Wine shoppers are really valuable to driving your overall sales. So getting your wine fixture right, is key.
For example, the average wine shopper spends £12.55, whilst a non-wine shopper spends £7.27 on average*. That’s more than £5 extra through the till with each sale!
WHAT TO STOCK


We know when shoppers are looking to buy wine, seeing a brand they recognise and trust is an important factor in their purchase decision.
The wine fixture can often be too complicated, with lots of different labels, grape varieties, countries, styles and prices to choose from. Therefore, stocking the biggest selling brands and merchandising them together on shelf, helps the shopper make a purchase decision more easily.
Also, if you have a smaller range of wines that sells faster, you will have less cash tied up in product, more money through the till and more space in the stock room!

We know that 64% of shoppers have pre-planned their wine purchase before coming into store*. This means they need wine for a certain occasion and are likely to know how much they want to spend. So, if we merchandise the fixture by occasion & price, we will help our shoppers find what they are looking for.

Gift, Treat & Celebrate (premium - £9+)
Party Essentials (trade up - £8-9)
Perfect for tonight (everyday - £7-8)
Great value (low price, less than £7)
Flavour Favourites (low price fruit wines, rosé and sparkling)
You can also stock sparkling here, such as Champagne, Cava and Prosecco, as well as premium rose (but make sure to keep it chilled, if you have a fridge).

This is an opportunity to ‘trade up’ your shoppers from their usual week-day wines. The wines should be merchandised at eye level if possible, with an RRP of £8-9

These are everyday wines and therefore, should be your biggest sellers. Merchandised in the middle of the fixture with an RRP of £7-8

These should be merchandised on the lowest shelf and have an RRP of £7 or under.

These sell great when merchandised together, because we know certain shoppers are looking for fruiter, sweeter and/or bubbly styles of wine, with an RRP of £7 or less.
